7. Daily Take-Home Folders  Daily folders serve as a communication tool and a way to track student behavior.  Calendar – please check daily

8. Math Log  Twice each grading period, students will be given a timed math facts test.  Students who show proficiency (95%) will not be responsible for the math log for the remainder of the grading period.

9. Homework  Students will be responsible for:  Reading – response sheet based on our learning at the time and a “book talk.”  Math – math logs  See handout

10. Target Binder  Assessments for most subject area material will be kept in the binder  Used to provide feedback to students  Provide student accountability  Student goal setting

11. Binders cont.  Binders will be sent home instead of progress reports. They will be sent home throughout each grading period when new data has been added.  Look through entire binder, sign and send back to school the next day.

12. Standards -Based Report card  The report card is a more detailed picture of your child’s progress in each subject area.  The supplement is on the 1,2,3 scale and will need to be signed and returned each six weeks.

14. A Few Key Reminders

15. Specials  Library is out of rotation for K-2.  Our class will visit the library to check out books on Friday afternoon.  Our class is split between the other four classes for specials.

Lunch  If possible send check, cash or you can go online and add to a students account at https://www.parentonline.net/. https://www.parentonline.net/  If anyone other than a parent or guardian would like to eat with a student, a note must be provided to the office in advance.  Second grade will be able to purchase ice cream on Wednesday.

18. Absences  Call the office on the day of the absence by 10 a.m.  Send a written note to the teacher when your child returns to school within 48 hours. E-mails are appreciated…but not accepted.

20. Field Trips  Sharkarosa Wildlife Preserve – usually in October  One parent per class (homeroom parent)  Please wear 2 nd grade t-shirt or green shirt  Please bring a sack lunch.  ???????
