3 Logging Into Your Website Your website administrator will email you an invitation with log on instructions. If you can’t remember your log on information, you can request it from the website or your web administrator. (It should be your full hck12 email address with.)

7 Important Terms  Back Office - Where you make changes and make pages visible to the public.  Home Page – This is the first page the public will see when they access your site.  School Page – The school you are assigned to and where your webpage is accessed.  Tabs – Stacked windows in your internet browser window that you are able to toggle back and forth.

8 Back Office  This is where you make pages visible to the public and add content to your pages.

9 Creating Pages  In the back office, you will select pages to that you wish to have active. Let’s start with “About The Teacher” under the first menu item under your name. You should be on Page Settings.

10 Page Settings  All content is added by selecting the menu on the left side of the Back Office window. The text box has many of the same features as Microsoft Word. Here you can change text size and color, add images and hyperlinks.  Make sure anytime you are adding information to your pages in the Back Office, you click SAVE at the bottom of the page. (You can also toggle back to your school page & refresh the window to see the changes.

11 Other Page Info  General Info – This is information about you (Try to keep it short).  About: Education – Your Education Info  About: Experience – Your Experience Info  About: Bio Share as much as you feel comfortable with. Remember, you can always turn off pages you don’t want to use.

12 Other Page Info continued  Welcome Page – This should be selected as the start page.  Links – You can add links to websites you like your students to use in class or at home.  Presentations – This allows you to upload presentations such as Power Point and others. There is a built in viewer so students do not have to have Power Point to view.

13 Other Page Info continued  Calendar – This is your personal class calendar where you can add info on important dates and assignments. You can also connect it to the school calendar also.  Forms – Forms that you may need for your class such as field trips, permission forms etc.  Assignments – You may add assignments here and they will automatically connect with your calendar. You can also link forms and presentations to your assignments.

14 Other Page Info continued  Projects – You can add projects that you want your students to complete. (Similar to Assignments)  Photo Album – Easily upload images of your student work to better involve parents in your classroom.  File Manager – A place to keep your files that you might want to link to other pages.  Announcements – Add information for parents or students here.

15 Other Page Info continued  Class Activities – Another place to add information on class activities.  Other Class Info – Another area to add information.  Class Schedule – Your class schedule for parent/student information.  Summer Reading List  Supply List  When you finish, make sure you log off.

16 Customizing  You can change the name of the page. You will do this on the page settings page.  Adding images – there is a library of clip art available on the website. You may also upload your own. Make sure you don’t infringe on copyrighted or trademarked images.

17 Questions  Can I mess up my website? No, you can only add information. If you delete information accidently, you will just have to retype and save the changes.  What if my page is not done? You can turn off pages if they are not ready.  What if my page is not showing up? You may not have turned on the page under page settings.  What if I get stuck? There are help files and help videos available on every page in the back office areas.
