It allows equality in communication among students.  provides a safe way to communicate with students and other faculty members outside the classroom using the internet.  enables one to one, small group and class or larger group communication.

3. Edmodo Edmodo is a free, secure, social learning platform for teachers, students, parents, and schools. Teachers and students can store and share all forms of digital content like blogs, links, pictures, video, documents, presentations, and more. Edmodo provides teachers and students with an easy way to post events, alerts, classroom materials, files, and videos. They can also access homework assignments, quizzes, grades, polls and school notices.

4. Edmodo and Social Communities  Edmodo is an example of how knowledge is constructed and shared in the real world through social and professional online communities. It is a good introduction to how these communities operate and how to use them.  Edmodo is developed for an educational setting which gives it an edge over other social networks. Teachers from all over the world are looking for collaboration opportunities for both themselves and their students to participate in.
