Offline Consequences Internet Safety

What are some offline consequences to what you post and see online? Brainstorm  Teachers and parents see the post  you get in trouble  Friends see the post  You lose friends or spread rumors  You hurt someone’s feelings  You repeat something you saw online, and it offends someone (racist, mean-spirited, or cruel words)  You don’t get into a college  You aren’t offered a scholarship  You lose your job

 Anyone you don't know who asks for your personal information, photos, or videos  Inappropriate or obscene material  Misleading URLs that direct you to sites containing inappropriate materials instead of what you were looking for  Anyone who sends you photos or videos containing obscene content of individuals 18 and younger  Anyone who asks you to meet in person Brainstorm What types of things should you report to an adult if you see them or if it happens to you online?

Social Networking  Why do you have a social networking profile?  Who do you allow to be your “friends”?  How can posting personal information affect your future?
