What they asked: It is January and next September we want to be implementing the Common Core State Standards – please get us there!

1.Short history about where came from 2.Focus on the CCSSMP – make a poster! a.What does the teacher need to do? b.What do the students need to be doing? 3.Grade level “focus” – (first page for each grade) a.What’s the same? b.What’s new? 4.Plan for sharing the information with peers 5.In teams, with their current instructional materials, what is there? 5.About 6 weeks to map out the information 6.Gave them the spreadsheet 6.What do the CCSSMP look like in the classroom? (2 per time)

7.Next 2 CCSSMP videos Identify PD needed to make this happen at your grade in your building Do some math! 8.Look at some “quality” websites Identify “final” product components 7.Next 2 CCSSMP videos Look-For-Tools 8.“Chunk” and order Begin discussion about what to report - proficiency 7.Last 2 CCSSMP videos Practice with Look-For-Tool and giving feedback! 8.Lesson plans for the first unit!

What do you know about CCSSM?  How were the standards developed and by whom?  Where did they start – top or bottom?  What are learning progressions?  What’s the big deal about the Math Practices?  How does the content spiral?  What is SBAC?  What websites are most informative?  With all of the conflicting “exemplars” – which sites can be relied on?
