1 SCHOOL PROGRESS

2 Goal: TCMS will increase the average combined reading and math proficiency ratings for all students from 43.4% to 71.7% by 2017.

3 Utilized daily formative assessment in the classroom Given continuous effective feedback to students Planned 1 lesson a week with NWEA Des Cartes to work on ELA skills Gates Foundation : Focused on ELA KCAS instructional shifts (Close reading, etc.) PLC work (grade level and content) focused on reading and KCAS instructional shifts GUK staff worked closely with students not doing well in reading Flex Days (1 about every 6 weeks) helping students who are not mastering ELA standards

4 MFAL training and use of MFALS throughout school year PLC work (grade level and content) Gates Foundation work: focusing on the mathematical practices and perseverance of working through multi-step math problems Made and utilized assessments that are more rigorous (like KPREP) 1 lesson per week using NWEA Des Cartes to help students develop skills Use of IXL and ALEKS math software programs Flex Days – 1 about each 6 weeks to help students GUK staff helped students not doing well in math

5 Problem Based Learning (8 th Grade) 4 successful school visits to Danville Bate Middle School (Teachers observed blended learning and problem based learning and scored PBATs(problem based assessment tests) Focus and infusion of 4 C’s – skills of 21 st century students: communication, collaboration, critical thinking, critical thinking
