Mrs. Kay Starrett Riverdale High School Rm# C2 Welcome to English IIIH and English IV Policies and Procedures

Classroom Supplies Classroom supplies(needed every day) 1. loose leaf notebook paper 2. blue or black ink pens 3. happy colored ink pens(pink, orange, green purple, etc) 4. dry erase marker 5. 3 ring binder 6. spiral notebook 7. highlighters

Bell work To be completed every day Two sentences to correct for grammar, spelling, and punctuation, two sentences to combine, or a journal entry to write Student will be given approximately 5 minutes to complete each assignment.

Bell work (cont.) Students should enter the classroom,take seats, and immediately begin on the bell work that is located on the Power Point screen.

Detention Every Monday from 3:00-4:00 Assigned for classroom disruptions and tardies.

Notebooks Each student is required to keep a homework notebook. Each assignment will be assigned a number. The assignments will be listed on the board in order. There will be a notebook test each six weeks

Grades Bell Work-all grades will be averaged for a quiz grade Homework=10% Quizzes=20% Projects/essays=30% Tests=40% Grades are posted on my web page and are updated every Friday. A progress report will be sent home at mid-six weeks to be signed by a parent for a quiz grade.

Tardies Two tardies to my class in the same week will result in detention with me the following Monday from 3-4.

Persuasive Writing Each student will write a minimum of one persuasive essay every six weeks. These essays will be peer edited and revised for a test grade.

Literary Analysis Each student will write at least one literary Analysis each six weeks.

Absences There are two designated days each six weeks to turn in late/make-up work( see late/make-up work turn in schedule) Late work will receive 50% credit and make-up work accrued from excused absences will receive 100% credit. You are 100% responsible for your make-up work (all assignments are posted on my calendar on my web page and handouts and notes are available under the “resources” section of that same web page

Classroom rules Be on time. Be awake. Participate Be prepared for class.(that means having completed all reading assignments or work the night before) Be respectful. Follow all school rules.
