Parts of speech Chris carter

Noun Ricky was very nice. Person, place, or thing.

pronoun We moved down the street. A word that replaces a noun or other pronoun and uses as the subject of the sentence.

Verb Scarlet sprinted to school because she missed the bus. A word that can express actions.

adjective The blue sky and ocean is mine. A word that describes or modifies a noun or pronoun; it answers the questions which one? What kind? How many?

adverb I got soaked in the rain yesterday. A word that modifies a verb. Answers the questions where? When? How?

preposition There is a past, future, and present. Connects nouns, pronouns, and other phrases to other words in the sentence; a prepositional phrase is made up of a preposition and an object and can have an article or adjective.

Conjunction We went to the movies and the carnival. Connects words, phrases, and sentences in a sentence. There are two types; coordinating and subordinating.

interjection Wow. That is an awesome plane. An interjection is a word added to a sentence to convey emotion.
