3 The 8 Parts of Speech 3. Verb -express actions, events, or states of being. Example: Ana is playing the piano. Verb= Playing

4 The 8 Parts of Speech 4. Adjectives =modifies a noun or a pronoun by describing, identifying, or quantifying words. Example : Sally is happy on her birthday party. Adjective: happy

5 The 8 Parts of Speech 5. Adverb -can modify a verb, an adjective, another adverb, a phrase, or a clause. Example: The seamstress quickly made the mourning clothes. Adverb: quickly
