The 8 Parts of Speech… Nouns Adjectives Pronouns Verbs Adverbs Conjunctions Prepositions Interjections Walsh Publishing Co. 2009

The 8 Parts of Speech… A noun is a person, place, thing or idea. An adjective describes a noun. It tells how many, which one and what kind. A pronoun takes the place of a noun. A verb shows action or state of being. An adverb describes verbs, adjectives and other adverbs. An adverb answers how, when, where, why and under what condition. Conjunctions “hook” together words, phrases and/or clauses. Prepositions are words that relate its object to another word in the sentence. Interjections are words that show emotion.
