Independence In Year 3 we expect the children to develop their independence skills. This includes: Putting their own belongings away in the mornings Putting home/school contact books into the box/tray Looking after jumpers!! – making sure they are in their trays & clearly labelled Changing their own reading books Choosing appropriate resources to support their learning, such as a number line or hundred square when adding and using various vocabulary/displays around the classroom Writing in the Home/School contact book when they have read

Home/School Contact Books Each child is responsible for their own reading book and home/school contact book Checked by class teacher/teaching assistant every Friday If there’s a note in the book from parent(s) put in tray/box which will be checked on the day If they read at home, we would like the children to write it in themselves as well as what they enjoyed, etc.
