What is Watch D.O.G.S.? History behind WatchDogs  4,706 schools in 46 states participate  Have a presence as a Dad at your child’s school.  WD are fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles and all other male figures in a child’s life  DOGS = Dads of Great Students Why should I participate in WatchDogs?  Even half a day once during the year makes an impact : First Year of WatchDOGS at Shook  91 different Dads; Some multiple days

What to expect on your day? You will get a detailed schedule of your day after arriving. Your schedule will depend on your hours available. (i.e. all day, 8-12, …) Some items on your schedule may include … “Dad’s Day” at your kids school Assisting with the arrival/dismissal of students Broadcasted on Shook news Hall monitor Lunch/Recess duty Classroom helper with your child’s class other grade levels PE aide with your child’s class or other grade level Lunch in the cafeteria with your student Interact with all Rattlers Extra security on campus

How Do I Sign Up? You must complete a volunteer background check for the school year. Even if you have a clearance at work or filled one out last year, you must fill one out with the district this year. Due to the overwhelming number of background checks sent in every year, Mrs. Brittany Burnette cannot contact you to let you know if you have been cleared. This is your responsibility. If you have completed one … You will need to see if you have been cleared You may pick your day or days on the master calendar If you have not completed one … Complete the background check tonight or send to school with your child tomorrow This will take approxiamtely 2 weeks to process You may pick your day or days on the master calendar but make sure to not pick a day within the next two weeks

Uniform You can order a WatchDOGS shirt from fathers.com. They are $11.95 plus shipping. We recommend you order our navy blue Shook spirit shirt to wear for your WatchDOGS day. We have special sticker nametags for you to have. This shirt is $10.00 with half going to the school. Orders are due by September 11 th and arrive by 9/25. Mrs. Burnette has order forms and sample sizes available tonight.

Master Calendar Use a label to fill out your information to place on your day. Please use one label per day There will be a limit of 1 WatchDOGS a day Write your date on the reminder card to save for reference If for any reason you need to cancel, please contact Mrs. Brittany Burnette at or Throughout the year, if a day comes up that you would like to come in, please contact a WatchDOGS leader or Mrs. Burnette to check the calendar Goal this year: Keep WatchDOGS calendar on Shook’s website under parent tab. This is why it is very important to cancel/reschedule in a timely manner. PPT will be available. Some dates will be marked out due to testing or other events

Special Events We would like our WatchDOGS to participate in our annual Storybook parade. WatchDOGS will need to construct a float to walk in our parade on Friday, October 30 th at 8:30 am.
