2. What is Watch D.O.G.S.?
WATCH D.O.G.S. ® (Dads Of Great Students) is an innovative father involvement, educational initiative of the National Center For Fathering. There are 2 primary goals of the WATCH D.O.G.S. ® program:
To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.

5. National Statistics
27% of all children do not live with their biological father - US Census Bureau 2010 report
63% of youth suicides are from fatherless homes
90% of all homeless and runaway children are from fatherless homes
85% of all children who show behavior disorders come from fatherless homes
75% of all adolescent patients in chemical abuse centers come from fatherless homes
85% of all youths in prison come from fatherless homes
Fatherless boys and girls are:
2X as likely to drop out of high school
2X as likely to end up in jail
4X times more likely to need help for emotional or behavioral problems
2X as likely to be involved in early sexual activity
Girls are 7X more likely to become pregnant as an adolescent

6. Other Statistics Children living with involved fathers are:
40% less likely to repeat a grade in school
70% less likely to drop out of school
Exhibit less emotional and behavioral difficulties in adolescence
The mere presence of WatchDOG dads:
Increases school security
Increases student achievement
Has been shown to cut discipline problems, in some cases by as much as HALF
Kids more fully develop socially, physically, academically, emotionally and spiritually when a positive male role model actively engages in their life

7. What is your role? Full Day Program with Half Day Opportunities
Assist with car line/bus duty and lunchroom
Volunteer in classrooms (~ 5X per Day):
Reading with students
Flash cards
Help with science experiment or class project
Present a career topic
One-on-one tutoring
Give special attention to those students who may not have a good male role model in their lives
Want to do something special with the students? Just ask!
Most Important – Uplift and encourage children and HAVE FUN!

8. Calling all Grandfathers, Uncles, and other Men!
We welcome all male role models, not just dads!
If grandfathers, uncles, adult brothers, or other positive male role models would like to volunteer, we would love to have them!
Encourage your male family members to volunteer for a day at the school.

10. More about the Classroom
Supervised at all times
You will never be left alone with students or left in charge
Interact directly with the students
Not a “student shadowing” program
One of the volunteer opportunities during the day will be in your child’s classroom
