Monday, Oct. 27 th, 2014 Sit in your assigned seat… NO ELECTRONICS until you have completed your handwritten speech!! Take out the My Future assignment handout from Friday.  You should have the Into and 1 st Body Paragraph FINISHED! Skyward grades are final for 1 st nine weeks report card.  Keep in mind this is a required course for graduation.  If you failed this nine weeks, you will need to pass the next 9 weeks with a high enough grade to average a passing final semester grade.  Summer school is your only option to retake the course.

“My Goals” Speech Handwrite a 5 paragraph speech on how you see your future.  Bring to me when complete to get laptop approval (and to be able to listen to music) Use your Presentation Format Notes to help you write your speech correctly. (intro, 3 body, conclusion) Use formal language, high school level & classroom appropriate sentences, and be positive. Body paragraph topics are below. Each body paragraph must have 8 or more sentences !!!  B1: Career life goals/dreams and why (career cluster, $$, location, position, etc…)  B2: Personal life goals/dreams and why (family, home, cars, luxury items, travel/vacations, etc…)  B3: Plan for success. Explain what you can do to achieve your goals… be specific. DUE to my DURING class tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 28 th. You must begin part 2 tomorrow during class as well… don’t get behind!!

My Goals Vision board A vision board is a collection of pictures/images that represent how you see your future. You can see an example of what a Pinterest board should look like by searching for mine: Coach Beal’s Vision Board *under the boards tab. Objective : Create a Vision Board to visually represent Goals Speech. Due Date : End of class Wednesday, Oct. 29 th, Choose one of the below tools for creating your Vision Board. 1. Poster Board (cut & paste pictures/images using magazines, etc…) You are responsible for supplies. 2. Word Document (use clip art or internet pics to create a collage on ONE page of a Word doc) 3. Pinterest (use this internet site to create a Vision Board. Must be familiar with Pinterest)

Requirements Your Vision Board must follow the below requirements to receive full credit. Note the point scale Positive, tasteful, and classroom appropriate. (100 points.. basically you get a zero if inappropriate) 25 pictures (2 points per pic: 50 pts.) Notice the # of pics required for each category. 5 categories that must be shown and labeled. (15 points)  Home/Family (7 pics) Marriage, kids, pets, house, pool, car, home décor, etc…  Career (5 pics) Career choice, quotes, location, office decor, $$, college prep, etc…  Quotes (5 pics) Must be positive, classroom appropriate, and represent your future.  Travel (4 pics) Vacation spots, dream destinations, beaches, mountains, etc…  Lifestyle (4 pics) Friends, entertainment, beliefs, health, sports, etc… Label each picture by writing the CATEGORY and picture # being shown. (1 point per pic; 25pts)  Ex: Career 1; Quote 4; Home 6) Do not repeat images. (10 points)

Wednesday, Oct. 29 th, 2014 Sit in your assigned seat with your laptop. Take out your My Goals requirement handout.  You can turn in handwritten speeches for a 50. I am NOT taking typed speeches any longer. 1. Finish and me your Vision Board  Use the handout I provided to ensure you meet all criteria for grading.  Due BEFORE you leave class TODAY. 2. After you have ed me your vision board:  Come see me for your Career Cruising login card. DO NOT LOSE THIS!!  Log in to the Career Cruising website (this should be on your Google Chrome favorites bar)  Become familiar with this website and watch some videos about different careers.  You may begin the “Learning Style” inventory, under the Assessments Tab, if you have time.  Do NOT start the Career Matchmaker assessment.

Due Date Turn in your work on by Thursday, Oct. 30 th, 2014:  Poster Board : to the front table. Name and class period on back.  Word Document : Send via . You know my expectations for ing work.  Pinterest : Be sure it is not set to private. Send me an with the link and professional request to grade. Ensure your board is not set to “private”. If you finish, find something educationally productive to keep you quiet and busy… on your own.  Work on something for another class  See me for a Current Event assignment.  Read/draw/write  Sleeping, talking, social media, or other non-productive activities are not an option!
