General School Rules K.I.N.D. –K - Keep your hands, feet and objects to yourself –I - Include everyone –N - Notice others’ feelings –D - Do the right thing with your words and actions

Bus Rules Bus Policy - riding the bus is a privilege; the district has a progressive discipline policy –First Offense - classroom teacher handles –Second Offense - principal handles; can result in a suspension for 1-3 days from the bus –Third Offense - principal handles; can result in a suspension of a specific number of days or removal from the bus entirely

Conferences & Report Cards October conferences –Focus on child adjustment to school socially and academically –Time to discuss goals and shared hopes and dreams with your child’s teacher March conferences optional

Things to Know Arriving at School –Greeted at the bus with a staff member –Greeted at the drop off by a staff member –Students walk directly to the GYM and line up by class with staff members on duty Morning Meeting –Greeting, Sharing, Activity, News & Announcements Curriculum –Storytown is the CORE Language Arts Program –Math Expressions is the CORE Mathematics Program Specials: Art, Music, Computers, Gym, Library –Scheduled throughout the week (art, music and gym are taught by a certified teacher; computers and library are visited with the classroom teacher)

Other Important Information to Know School Messenger - our communication link to you; make sure the office has your most up to date contact information Be on Time - school starts at 8:50. Please do your best to ensure that your child is here to start their day with their classmates; morning meeting is a critical part of the day Appointments, Vacations, Etc. - please try to schedule all appointments and/or vacations when school is not in session Attendance Policy - 20 unexcused absences will be reviewed by our Attendance Review Committee; note that 3 early dismissals or 3 tardies count as one unexcused absence

Other Important Information to Know Principal’s Newsletter -On the first of each month you will receive a newsletter from the office; this will also be posted on our website; HARRISON HAPPENINGS Website- become a frequent visitor jerome.northbranfordschools.org Communication - this is key; let us know how we can help you; make small things stay small PTO - meets monthly as noted on the JHS website; Mondays at 6:30 pm; various events throughout the year; get involved and become a part of this wonderful group of individuals

Other Important Information to Know Visitors Policy - visitors are welcome at JHS however to ensure the safety of all students and staff it is expected that visitors with have a specific purpose when coming to JHS; all visitors must sign in at our main office and obtain a visitor’s badge

Other Important Information to Know Dropping Off - utilize the drop off loop and drop your child off to the staff member on duty; if you want to walk your child to the front door you can do so but just park in the parking lot Picking Up - utilize the pick up route/line and have your pick up tag on your mirror that matches the tag that is on your child’s backpack
