Skills and Techniques 5 th September 2011 By the end of the week you will be able to describe your analysis of results using quantitative, qualitative and diagnostic Feedback from the Match Analysis sheet and the Movement Analysis sheet.

Today’s Tasks 5 Quick revision questions S & W from Match analysis S & W from Movement analysis View sample answer and attempt exam question

Advance Warning! On Monday 18 th September everyone will sit a 50 minute twenty mark exam question on all the areas we have covered so far. No notes will be allowed.

Strengths and Weaknesses from Match Analysis Sheet DATA (QUANTITATIVE DATA) 50% of my smashes were unsuccessful I only attempted 4 smashes in the whole game I played 24 successful overhead clears I won 6 points with a drop shot I only made 4 errors when serving high

Strengths and Weaknesses from Match Analysis sheet OBSERVATIONS FROM OTHERS (QUALITATIVE FEEDBACK) My opponent said my overhead clears were a strength and pushed him to the back of the court. My teacher said to improve my overall game I really need to use the smash much more often and more successfully.

Strengths and Weaknesses from Match Analysis Sheet INTERNAL FEEDBACK Overall I felt that I moved my opponent around the court fairly well using Overhead Clears and Drop shots but the rallies went on too long and I was unable to finish rallies with a winning shot like the smash. I am therefore going to use a more focussed analysis on my SMASH.

Strengths and Weaknesses from Movement Analysis Sheet STRENGTHS FROM P/A/R WEAKNESSES FROM P/A/R Start from the baseStart to move side on when shuttle is being played Moves to place shuttle will be played from Use a throwing action Continue using own info…..

Exam Question You now have all the information you need in your jotters to complete the following exam question. Question Describe the information you obtained from gathering data on your performance (6) FOR FRIDAY 9 th Sept 9am

How to answer question effectively Use 2 paragraphs. One paragraph for giving results from Match Analysis the other paragraph for Movement Analysis. Avoid just listing Strengths and Weaknesses. Always try to give an explanation of how the weakness in particular effected the shot.

Wednesday 7 th and Friday 9 th Sept 2011 By the end of this week you will also understand the importance of Monitoring and Evaluating Performance and will be able to describe how you Monitored and Evaluated Performance.

Monitoring Performance It is important to monitor your training so that … - You can see any improvements to your training as the weeks go by - Seeing or recognising your improvements can be motivating - Changes and adjustments can be made to programme if needed.

Monitoring Performance I monitored my performance by …. - Using External feedback from teacher/observer/opponents /practices - Using Internal feedback - Results from Matches

Evaluating Performance It is important to evaluate your performance so that … - You can see any improvements you have made to your performance - You can set new targets for your training - It can keep you motivated seeing improvements

Evaluating Performance I evaluated my performance by - Re doing Match Analysis sheet and comparing - Re doing Movement Analysis sheet and comparing - External Feedback (teacher/opponent/observer) - Internal Feedback - Results in Matches
