Back to School (Bye-Bye Summer Tribute in Pictures) My 8 th Grade Classroom Procedures

Its all about RESPECT I respect you, You respect me, We respect your classmates

When you enter the room Sharpen pencils and be seated before the bell rings Make sure school ID is on and visible. Begin the bell work (warm-up) Must be seated before bell rings. (If not seated you will get a tardy slip)

If you need supplies Check with your teacher immediately in order to go to your locker or the counselors to collect what you need – Be sure to do this BEFORE class…not when you are supposed to start work. Show me you care about your work.

When I need your attention I will count backwards from five. When I get to one, the whole class should be silent. If anyone speaks, or counts with me, you will lose 30 seconds of passing time…to start with.

If you need help Raise your hand and wait until I call on you. If it has been a while, you still must wait while I help someone else. If it is not an assessment, quietly ask a neighbor at your table

When you are working in a group C ollaboration means to work together in a group. Everyone shares the responsibility; no one is left out of the group. Listen to each other with respect and hear what they have to say.

When you are working independently Do your very best to get through the work on your own. If you get stuck, re-read the directions. Independently means you must do it yourself. Spend some time trying to figure it out. Don’t just immediately raise your hand. Think!

Completely fill out the pass in your agenda, then come to me and ask me to sign it. You may NOT borrow another person’s agenda. If there are no spaces left, you will be sent to the nurse’s office and will need to call home. If emergency, ask for permission to leave (not during modeling) You MUST take a pass every time you leave the room…even if you ask and I say “yes,” does not mean that you can leave without the pass.** If you should need a pass

When you turn in your work Turn in all work to Sir Boxington located on the front table near the door. Make sure it is in the correct hour slot. NEVER HAND YOUR WORK TO ME! I promise you I will lose it, and you will still be responsible for it.*** Remember this. You, not me, are responsible for getting your work turned into the correct folder for credit.

When you leave the room at the end of class Clean up your workspace Wait for your teacher to dismiss you, (not the bell) then Quietly exit.

If you are absent Copy assignment/lesson out of someone’s agenda for that day Pick up any handouts at the end of the period from teacher. All absent work is due two days after your return…I will not ask for it….it is completely YOUR responsibility to turn it in. If you don’t, after 2 days there will be a “0” placed in gradebook until I get it.

ANY QUESTIONS????
