Social Studies It’s All About TEXAS!!! Geography Citizenship Government History Economics Culture Technology

Math The purpose of the first 30 days of math is to intentionally weave the process standards with the other knowledge and skills. This enables students to be successful problem solvers and use mathematics efficiently and effectively in daily life. The operational focus is multiplication and division. The geometric focus is attributes of 2D and 3D shapes. Students will be expected to solve measurement problems involving use of dimensions. Algebraic reasoning is incorporated throughout all disciplines in math. Mrs. Bell, Mrs. Harris, Mrs. Montgomery

Science Science lessons encompass hands-on discovery, non-fiction reading, and expository writing. We will discover, critically read, and write to deepen students’ understanding of science. Students use a science notebook during class to record labs, respond to videos, and articles. We use the notebooks to display data, charts, and graphs, and conclusions are written in Claim, Evidence, Reasoning (CER) format. Formative grades are taken from your child’s science notebook. Mrs. Bell, Mrs. Harris, Mrs. Montgomery

Communication Planners – Tasks will be written daily based on what we are working on in the classroom Transportation changes must be in writing: please to and “CC” your child’s teacher in the Webpages: check frequently / Phone: Our contact information is on the webpage. Homework: Homework is recorded in your child’s planner. Check each teacher’s website for homework guidelines NISD Grading Guidelines: Grading Guidelines are posted on each teacher’s website and on the district website under the Parents tab.

Birthday Celebrations If you would like to provide a treat for your child’s class in celebration of a birthday, the treat can be sent with your child, or you may bring it to the front office to be delivered to your child’s classroom. The teacher will determine the appropriate time in the afternoon for the treat. We would ask that you not bring party favors. ***The birthday treats must be single servings, ex. cupcakes, cookies, etc. Parents also need to provide napkins for the treats.

Teaching with Love&Logic What is Love and Logic? Love allows children to grow through their mistakes. Logic allows children to live with the consequences of their choices. ogic.com NISD Student Handbook and Code of Conduct is on the NISD website under the Parents Tab.

Volunteering Parent volunteer forms from PTA NISD Background Check must be completed in order to volunteer. See the Beck website for a link for background checks. They must be completed each year.
