Mrs. Perry Grade 5

A procedure is the way that we do things. To do things right, we have to follow some simple procedures, for example:  To cook a delicious meal, you need to follow the steps in the recipe.  To place a call on your phone, you need to input the numbers in the right order.  You will find that to be successful in learning, you also need to follow some simple procedures.

 Enter the classroom quietly  Move your lunch clip  Hang up your backpack and/or coat  Turn in any assignments  Go directly to your assigned seat  Make sure you have all necessary materials to begin work  Voices level 1 (whisper)

 Be in your assigned seat and working on the morning work when the tardy bell rings  Follow the morning message  Voice Level 0 (NO talking)

 A folder will be on your desk with assignments  Assignments are to be completed AFTER daily work or taken home as homework  You have one day for every day absent to complete the work

 Please use YOUR time for bathroom/drinks Before school outside, and during recess/lunch is your time.  You may NOT use the bathroom/get a drink before 9:00  Bathroom/Drinks ONLY during quiet work time  You must sign out; 1 boy/1 girl at a time  Emergencies – Teacher discretion – ask permission  You may have a water bottle if it does not distract you or others

 Listen to the teacher with full attention ◦ Pencils down, eyes forward on teacher/material  Remain in your seat  Voice level 0  Ask permission to speak by raising your hand  Ask questions related to the subject  After instruction, make sure you understand the concept - if not, ASK!

 PLEASE participate  I want to hear what you have to say  Make all questions and comments relevant to the current discussion  If your question is off the topic, write it down and ask later

 Make sure you read or listen to the directions about your work and understand them  Voice Level 0  Use your time wisely  Put forth your best effort to finish your work on time  Place unfinished work in orange take home folder to be completed as homework

 Come to designated area prepared if in small group  All others: ◦ Silent work at your seat ◦ Do not interrupt small group ◦ Wait to ask questions or check with neighbor ◦ No bathroom/drinks
