Welcome to Parent Orientation Clare Brown Tamara Cabrera-Perrine “I am not a teacher, I am an awakener.” Robert Frost

Mrs. Perrine’s Personal Code of Ethics P-1.7 – We (teachers) shall strive to build individual relationships with each child; make individualized adaptations in teaching strategies, learning environments, and curricula; and consult with the family so that each child benefits from the program.. In line with the National Teacher’s Association’s Code of Ethics

What This Means for Me Teacher, Child and Parent are a team with child’s growth as driving purpose of the triad. Teachers Child Parent

What this looks like in the classroom Open lines of communication via , weekly newsletter, assignment notebook and classroom web page. Parent and teacher working together to support child in becoming more independent. Over protection drains confidence

What our web page can do for you! bin/frame.pl?page=homepage.pl&id=perrine ! weekly newsletters, photo gallery, links to enrichment type activities. Weekly of newsletters Truly a glimpse into our classroom and daily lives.

Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Spicuzza Mrs. Perrine Collaborate weekly Discuss areas of concern with students Conference together as a team with families Share notes, and s to keep each other informed

Word Study Program To learn spelling patterns not just memorize words for a quiz. This is accomplished through playing with words, completing word sorts in various manners, practice, problem solving, making connections

What is a word sort? Write sort: students write their spelling words into given categories ABC Sort: Students alphabetize spelling words. No Peeking Sort: Wednesday night practice quiz at home with family member. Write it Out!!! Paste Sort

Independent Reading Program Purpose –The more you read the better you read. Reading improves when given lots of practice at appropriate levels. –AR program monitors students basic comprehension on just right books. –Third grade standard practice: 5 points per 1 st quarter, 8 points 2 nd quarter, 10 points 3 rd quarter, 12 points 4 th quarter

A.R. Program Be careful in presentation of program to our children. It is an option for locating books of interest and appropriate reading level. Levels start low to make sure that it is truly an Independent reading level Motivational rewards are based on a child to child and class to class basis.
