Presentation transcript:

 Schizophrenia is a mental health disorder that affects a persons ability to distinguish reality from imagination. People with schizophrenia are also unable to think like a normal person and process situations. People have not yet discovered a cause, but they think it is related to genetics. There a medications to help fight schizophrenia, but they have a lot of side effects. 

 People with anxiety get nervous or worrisome over simple things and do so with no reason. They worry about every little thing such as finance, family and death. It affects peoples’ daily lives significantly and can cause people to go insane or be depressed. It usually stems from a person’s childhood. Women suffer from it more often than men do. 

 Symptoms of ADHD are the inability to saty focused on a task, the inability to control one’s behavior and an extremely high activity level. This is most commonly found in children and most will later outgrow this disorder, but some people will continue with it through adolescence. There is no cure, but can be treated with Ritalin or Addorall.  hyperactivity-disorder/complete-index.shtml

 People who are depressed always feel down on themselves and are very sad. Many people feel this way, but people diagnosed with depression have these symptoms for weeks or months. The cause for depression is unknown, but there is reason to believe alcohol, drugs, sleeping habits, and family life could be some reasons linked to depression. There are some medications that can help with depression, but there is no known cure. Depression can lead to dangerous things such as suicide. 

 Bipolar disorder is the condition where people have drastic mood swings. They will have periods of time where they are very happy and in an instant be infuriated. People usually become bipolar in their late teens or early twenties. A lot of the symptoms are similar to other diseases like ADD or depression, so it is very difficult to diagnose. There are treatments and drugs, but they have not proven to be very affective. 

 People with OCD have continuous thoughts that encourage them to do something. These thoughts are not linked to drug use, but are created by the brain. Some people need everything around them to be perfectly organized and also some people have a fear of germs and must wash their hands a lot. OCD can be treated with medications and certain therapies. 
