Monday: 12/01/2014 Warm Up (Week 16) We have been discussing the struggles of both stereotypes and culture clashes. Provide an example or something that you have experienced that you think of as a struggle or social clash. This can be cultural, or generational. 4 – 5 complete sentences Vocabulary Prefix: pro Meaning: in favor of Examples: Project Projectile

Today… Today we will begin background information on the Novel “The Outsiders.” We will begin reading the novel and go over expectations as we go.

Tuesday: 12/2/2014 Warm Up Todays Warm Up is based on a film clip. How does the Narrator (S.E. Hinton) describe the Socs and the Greasers? How do they spend their time? What was this book trailer trying to say is the main theme of the novel, “The Outsiders?” 3 – 4 complete sentences Vocabulary Prefix: Solus- Meaning: alone Examples: – Solo – Solitary

Today… We are going to finish Chapter 1. We will then begin a characterization worksheet. HOMEWORK: Chapter 1 Worksheet – Due Thursday

Characters in “The Outsiders” Chapter 1 describes all the Greasers using both direct and indirect characterization. Provide an example of each for each of the characters described in Chapter 1. – Direct Quotes and Pg. #

Chapter Checks You need to print the Chapter Worksheets from the South Pointe Website. Each question must be answered in complete sentences, restating the question, and using a quote whenever possible. The boxes on top can be done with bullet points. The Image must be colored.
