2 This week… Mandatory – – Writing Prompt Formative and Plot Placemat Summative Optional – – Two assignments for extra formative grades… If you finish the mandatory assignments, you are required to work on the optional assignments.

4 Plot Placemat:Plot Placemat:  You will create a placemat based on 6 items that cross the story arc.  You are going to recreate the story in 6-large-frames.  You will draw and color a picture into each of the frames. (Stick figures are fine as long as it is NEAT!)  You cannot write more than 2 sentences in each frame explaining the picture.  Make sure your pictures go in order of the story, so the story is easily retold through your storyboard.

5 Plot Placemat:Plot Placemat:  Fold paper in half (hot dog bun style)  Fold in thirds.  There should be 6, fairly even, boxes.  Now, do your best work!!

10 Writing Prompt: Change a Character’s Life Change the fate of a human character in the novel! (ex:Tally-Ho pg. 199; change fate… dog lives…) Give the page number from the book that you are changing. Write one or two sentences over what actually took place and how you are changing it. Write a minimum of three paragraphs describing in detail the new fate of the character. Stay accurate to the author’s style and the characteristics of the character you chose.

12 2. Create a greeting card for one of the characters. Make it appropriate for what happened to the character; get well card or sympathy card to family. Draw a picture that represents theme of the card. Don’t forget to add an appropriate message inside the greeting card. 3. Make a Wanted Poster. Select a main character and draw him or her as your “wanted character”. State who the character is and why the character is wanted. On the poster, list internal and external traits of the “wanted character”, and tell why the character is “wanted”. 4. Make a time line of all of the events in the book. Display this in a creative form. 5. Write a song or poem about the novel. 6. Make a crossword puzzle using ideas from the book. You will need at least 25 entries along with the answer key. (This may be emailed.) 7. Write a letter to the author of your book and explain how you feel about the book. 8. Create a mini-comic book relating to a chapter of the book.
