Presentation transcript:

JUNIORS IN 500 WORDS OR LESS A documentary from Point Made Films “Going to college is a rite of passage for many American high school students, but the process can be overwhelming: college fairs, tours, SAT’s, applications. And then there’s thepersonal essay. How does a 17 year old define his/herself to total strangers when he/she’s only beginning to discover who he/she really is? And how can he/she be expected to do it an essay of 500 words or less? The documentary filmIn 500 Words or Less serves as a portrait of four of the nearly 1.5 million families who go through this process each year. While race, geography and socio-economic status affected how they got here, their stories converge as they all juggle acceptance, rejection, decision-making and letting go.” March 11, 2014 Lakewood High SchoolLecture Center 9:00 AM-11:00 AM Film showing followed by brief discussion Questions, please contact the Counseling Office.
