Homework/Classwork Homework/Classwork will be assigned and will account for 25% of the overall math grade. Homework will be given Monday-Thursday and sometimes on Friday. Homework is a valuable extension from what is taught in class, and it is important that students complete their homework every night.

San Elijo Middle School Homework Policy To reinforce and build upon the skills or material introduced in the classroom, homework will be accomplished as follows: Math – reinforce skills learned in class, minutes daily. Satisfactorily complete other assigned tasks, such as textbook reading, science lab workbook, note making/vocabulary cards. Teams will collaborate on assignments to ensure no overload.

Grading System Point system Homework/Classwork: 25% of grade Tests/Quizzes: 75% of grade Citizenship grades are based upon compliance to the school and classroom rules. More extensive assignments will be worth more points Late work = -70% of the possible points (Math Only)

LATE WORK: General rule for all subject areas is that late work is not acceptable, as we are building student responsibility and preparing students for the next level of secondary education. As an exception, Math classes may accept late work for reduced value to ensure fundamental skills are sequentially learned. SEMS will comply with the SMSUD policy for excused absences. Teacher will use discretion in emergency/special situations. Extended time is authorized in compliance with a student’s IEP.

EXTRA CREDIT Extra Credit is an option left to the individual teacher. NO extra credit is allowed until all work (assignments, projects, etc) is satisfactorily completed.
