Welcome I hope your child is enjoying third grade! We are off to a great start this year. I have really enjoyed getting to know each student. Have you signed up for REMIND? It is great! If you haven’t please do so tonight.

A Day in Third Grade Breakfast is served from 7:35 until 8:05. Car riders must arrive by 7:50 to eat breakfast. The students make their lunch choice for the day as they walk down the third grade hall. Then the students sit in the hall until 8:05. When the students come in the room they unpack and prepare for the day.

A Day in Third Grade At 8:15 we begin our day with the morning show that includes the Pledge of Allegiance, the South Carolina pledge, the school pledge, and a moment of silence, followed by announcements.

A Day in Third Grade Morning Meeting-Sharing We have a sharing time. Each student will be allowed to share once a week. After a student shares, other students are allowed to ask questions or make comments about what was shared. The students may bring things from home for sharing time.

A Day in Third Grade Morning Meeting- Activity Some mornings we will do an activity in morning meeting. We might do an activity that focuses on listening skills.

A Day in Third Grade After morning meeting, the students are dismissed to return to their seats. At this time, I check communication logs and homework. If your child does not have his/her communication log signed, homework completed, or needs supplies, I will write a note on the communication log.

A Day in Third Grade From 8:20-10:20 ELA *Reading Minilesson *Writing Minilesson *Silent Reading Time/AR Tests *Media Center Time *Small Group Reading *Workstation Activities

A Day in Third Grade 10:20 – 11:00 Math We go to lunch at 11:05 until 11:30. You are welcome to join us for lunch. Please let the lunchroom know in advance and stop by the office to get a visitor’s pass.

A Day in Third Grade After lunch we have some more Math instruction. (11:35-12:15)

A Day in Third Grade Then at 12:10, we go to Related Arts. Monday-Spanish Tuesday- Art Wednesday- Computer Lab (We also have PE on Wed. morning at 8:30) Thursday- Music Friday- PE

A Day in Third Grade 1:05-1:25 Recess From 1:30-2:45, we will be working on Social Studies and Science

A Day in Third Grade At 2:45, we begin getting packed up to go home. We will also complete our class jobs and prepare for dismissal. At 2:50 we have an afternoon meeting on the rug. At this time we discuss the things we have learned and what the students have to do for homework. Dismissal begins at 3:05.

Reminders Please remember to check your child’s homework each day and sign his/her communication log.

PBIS We have continued our school wide behavior program this year called PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) This is a common approach to discipline. The whole school is involved. Our theme is: “Lions that ROAR.” Respectful On Task Always Prepared Responsible

PBIS We spent the first week going over the expectations in all areas. We have the expectations posted for the students to see. Please notice the expectations in the following areas: ClassroomCafeteria RestroomsPE Room Hallways Media Center

PBIS If a student chooses not to follow the expectations, we do have a common set of consequences: 1. Reminder-Verbal Warning (1 is circled on the communication log.) 2. Re-teach the Expectation (2 is circled on the com. log and student loses 5 minutes of recess) 3. Reflection Desk (note in planner) 4. Loss of Privilege (parent contacted)
