How to be SUCCESSFUL in this Classroom ☺ Participate in class discussion at appropriate times (not when another is speaking) ☺ Turn work in ON TIME and to the appropriate place ☺ Maintain a conscientious, non- disruptive, positive attitude when approaching subjects ☺ Be mentally and physically available to learn ☺ Arrive to class on time and prepared with the materials needed every day ☺ Keep your hands and objects to yourself and use appropriate language ☺ Be respectful of everyone

Be HERE Every Day and Be HERE Every Day! Introduce yourself to your partner. “Hi! I am ________.” Write their name at the top of the sticky note. Record what you see on your sticky note (write small, you need to make lots of observations). Leave your sticky on the board before you go. Susie Heath Bit her lip, grabbed sides of head and pulled her hair, put left hand under her chin and closed eyes, put her head down on her arms, on the table, moaned, “what am I going to do?! stared off into the distance, one tear trickled down her cheek

Be Here! Is it obvious when someone is using their brain? Are we all the same? What does it look like when someone is zoned out and not on-task? Show me. Be aware that I just took notes…

Who is in your class? Find your number and write your name at the top of the box. What is one thing about you that will help people remember you? Write this in the box.

Who is in your class? Meet your partner and introduce yourself. Now you and your partner will join another pair to make a group of 4. YOU will introduce your partner to the other group.

Who is in your class? As each person is being introduced, write their name in their box number and how to remember them. When everyone is finished, practice remembering everyone’s name WITHOUT looking at the sheet

You Will Be Introducing Your Partner Speaking Rubric
