Surrey Information Point: how to guide

What is Surrey Information Point? Local directory of support available in the community and regulated providers Developed by multiple agencies seeking core, central resource on care and support For residents, partners, providers and staff Universal access to key information to help people help themselves Improving access to single online point of information for staff, professionals and information providers Provider information on Care Quality Commission is harvested to Surrey Information Point – nothing additional to do

What can you do on Surrey Information Point? You can: 1.Add entries 2.Edit entries 3.Search for records using multiple filters 4.Find out about what activities/events are on in your locality, using the What’s On calendar 5.Collate an information prescription (shortlist) of services, organisations and activities that you can provide to someone you support and share via 6.Swot up on your area’s organisations and services by searching for your locality name in the main toolbar and see all the relevant organisations that are listed 7.Send details of a service, organisation or activity to a family member, friend or someone that uses our services via text messaging or 8.Print information in large print, standard and post/hand to people 9.Look for information and services that can support someone with a long term health condition and their carer by checking out the Health Matters section 10. Use Step-by-Step guides for excellent prompts on subject areas

What can you do on Surrey Information Point?

1. How to add a record / entry (cont) Step 2. Complete with your contact details and details of the service, including the service title and a short description about the service.

1. How to add a record / entry (cont) Step 3. Complete any other relevant details for the service e.g. opening times, any costs to access the service, specific eligibility/referral details. You can cancel your changes and go back to the previous page at any point, by clicking on the ‘ Cancel changes and go back ’ button at the bottom of the page. Step 4. Once the form is completed click on the ‘ Save service ’ button at the bottom of the page. Your record will now be sent to the Surrey Information Point data store and it will be added to the site within five working days.

2. What’s On Calendar Want to know what activities / events are on in your locality? You can search for details of local coffee mornings, advice drop-in sessions, sports and leisure events, local support group activities and much more via the What’s On calendar, which can be found at the top of the Surrey Information Point homepage. You can search for events either by searching for a specific event in the search bar on the left hand side or selecting one of the options under “Find out What’s On”.. You can then further refine your results by day, month or post code. If you know of an activity or event that’s going on in your area, you can easily add these to the What’s On Calendar via the “Add an Entry” button at the tope of the homepage. If you don’t know the details to complete the form, let us know the contact details of the service and we’ll get in touch. For further details about the event, open up the record by clicking on the title

3. How to create a shortlist Step 2. To view your shortlist, click on the View my shortlist button at the top of the page. You can use Surrey Information Point to collate an information prescription of services, organisations and activities that you can provide to someone you support, which could aid discussions around their support options. Here are some simple steps on how to shortlist information for someone you support. Step 1. Once you ’ re in a record click on Add to Shortlist in the menu on the right hand side. Do this for each record you wish to add to the shortlist.

3. How to create a shortlist (cont) Step 3. To print the shortlist, select Print Shortlist under the Shortlist Actions. This will enable you to print a pdf document of the records you ’ ve selected. You also have the option to print the document in large print. You can also the list of records to someone by selecting Shortlist under the Shortlist Actions menu. Type in your name, the address of the person you want to send the information to and a message. The recipient will receive an with a link, which will take them directly to the shortlist on SIP. If you need to clear the shortlist and start again select Clear Shortlist under the Shortlist Actions.

4. How to text records You can also use Surrey Information Point to send details of a service, organisation or activity to a family member, friend or someone that uses our services by using the text message facility on Surrey Information Point. Here ’ s how... Step 1. When you ’ re on the service/organisation ’ s record, click on ‘ Send details by text ’ on the right- hand side menu. This will bring up a new dialogue box. Step 2. Type in the mobile number of the person you wish to text the details to and click on the Send button. The recipient will instantly receive a text message that contains the name of the organisation/service/activity, the name of the contact, telephone number and contact details. This service is free and doesn ’ t cost anything for the person sending or receiving the text message.
