End of Semester Survey Mrs. Frask End of 1 st semester

I was clear about what was expected on assignments “I was ok on some parts but others I was lost” “I wish the assignments were announced (on the website? On the board?) a little more in detail” “You always said what to do” “too many assignments” “always wrote out the rules and explained them clearly” I should have paid more attention”

I felt like my teacher was fair “gave students time to makeup work if they were absent” “Mrs. Frask was always there for help when you needed help” “you always gave us days and good amounts of time to do our assignments”

I felt challenged by this class “only on tests or exams” I felt challenged sometimes but it helped me learn a lot” “I wasn’t good in science since 6 th grade” “sometimes I just didn’t understand, even when I really listened” “I just felt a little bit rushed on some assignments” “some things were fun, I never got bored” “I’m not good at Biology” “my worst subject” “if I did my work and paid attention it wouldn’t have been challenging”

I was comfortable asking my teacher for extra help “I was scared to ask because I didn’t know how to do it” “I didn’t want the class to think I was dumb” “I never had to ask for help. So? This doesn’t apply to me” “it always felt weird asking in this class because they were always talking” “Mrs. Frask was there to assist anyone of us if we needed assistance” “she allowed us to come during lunch for tutoring

I felt comfortable in my teacher’s classroom (i.e. free to ask questions, know what the “rules” are) “I didn’t feel comfortable if you picked my partner because I may not talk to them or they don’t do their part of the work” “If I had a problem I could just tell her” “you’re the only teacher I actually trust in the school”

I feel like my teacher respected me “you respected me so I respect you” “maybe if I acted better there would have been more respect” “she doesn’t disrespect anybody in this classroom” “she tried to help me get my grade up by me doing homework during lunchtime tutoring “she liked how I behaved” “she never said anything bad”

My teacher created lessons that actively engaged me “the projects and labs were good” “I like to do the projects because they were interesting” “I was able to learn mostly about things I never knew about” “I just chose not to do some of the lessons” “more labs = happier students” “all the lessons were pretty fun and taught well!”

I learned a lot in this class “most of the things I learned I never heard about” “I liked learning about DNA and the ways cells are made and viewed” “biology is a class where you learn something new everyday” “I did learn things but the way I acted I could have learned a lot more” “I learned a lot and how I am happy I got this semester over cuz biology is kind of hard” “I didn’t learn a lot because I was fooling around” “Best teacher ever (: “

What project or activity did you enjoy the most? Muppet Genetic Project Gummy Bear Osmosis Penny & Water Lab Charles Darwin Voyage Map DNA Model

My favorite part of this class Activities Time to do assignments Videos Web quests DNA-RNA “Not having to carry the textbook to class” Drawing Frog & Toad (the class pets) Guided readings “When everyone stopped acting like 2-yr-olds and we could get work done” “the crazy teacher (in a good way)” “the end of it”

My least favorite part of this class Notes The work All the packets Video quizzes Not a lot of free time Working by myself PDN quizzes The exam Learning about Darwin Misbehavior of other students in the class Seating arrangement Coloring Web quests The pencil sharpener

What advice can you give me for how I should change my class next semester? “keep doing what you’re doing” “I don’t think you should change, I liked it just how it was” “it’s good how it was” “nothing really needs to be changed” “don’t change, stay the same” “I don’t think you should change anything. In fact, for next semester I think you should do twice as much work”

What advice can you give me for how I should change my class next semester? “make class more fun” “help the students more” “have a lot of write-up sheets” “less homework and more videos” “more class pets” “explain assignments better” “pick one partner for entire semester, more hands-on projects, and shorten the notes” “don’t talk so much” “interesting movies” “the PDNs” “More notes” “don’t show as many videos” “don’t sound so complicated” “instead of giving notes, make them take them” “more hands on and less coloring” “do something fun before a holiday” “more projects”
