- Standards were created by the International Organization for Standardization - The U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) developed the U.S. Position on the ISO documents

n ISO A specification standard that cites requirements for implementing and maintaining EMS. Organizations become registered to this standard. n ISO Guidance document

Links between ISO 9000 and ISO n Both are voluntary standards. n Both are management standards- do not establish required performance levels. n Both are designed for internal use- registration requires a third-party audit. n Both are generic in nature so that they can be applied across the board to organizations of all types and sizes.
