2 What is ISO 14000? ISO is a series of environmental Management standards The standards were designed to help companies - Develop effective effective environmental management systems In today’s world, you must be environmentally aware

- Demonstrate sound environmental management practices

4 - Standards were created by the International Organization for Standardization
- The U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) developed the U.S. Position on the ISO documents How Standard came to be--Part maker in Europe wanted to sell bolts to OEM--Bolts were more expensive due to environmental concerns

5 ISO A specification standard that cites requirements for implementing and maintaining EMS. Organizations become registered to this standard. ISO Guidance document

6 Links between ISO 9000 and ISO 14000
Both are voluntary standards. Both are management standards- do not establish required performance levels. Both are designed for internal use- registration requires a third-party audit. Both are generic in nature so that they can be applied across the board to organizations of all types and sizes.
