Dr. Alexandrina Maria PAUCEANU, Dhofar University, Oman & Eng. Mohammad Salim Hammouri AREC & EMRC, Jordan STRATEGIC ENERGY MANAGEMENT IN OMAN

-As the challenges our world is facing nowadays and the constant increased of energy demand, there is an urgent need of sustainable solutions and strategic planning. -Energy can be obtained from numerous renewable and non-renewable sources. -Green investment is intelligent investment. The vision of world’s future looks excellent in GREEN. -Options for Oman: -Seawater for electricity and water : SEMBCORP Salalah -Solar energy plant : Al-Mazyunah -Wind energy – several studies have been made for Thumrait -Algae energy – studies still need to be made

SOLAR ENERGY – AL MAZYUNAH SOLAR PLANT Capacity: 303 KW Starting operations: June 2015 Will also provide a sustainable alternative to the development of the ar ea. Location: Al Mazyunah Free Zone, on t he Oman and Yemen border.

Methodology of the study The primary functionality of these scenarios is to connect, to control domestic generation and buffering technologies in such a way that heat and electricity supply are guarantee for the house owners. Energy management requirements include: -device level (1), -multiple scenarios (2), -guaranteed comfort level (3), -heat and electricity (4), -agreement between local and global controller (5), -and online scheduling (6)

Recommendations -strategic plan that involves management, measurement and proper documentation of the trend for a continued improvement of the energy efficiency management; -every sector should set up a cross-divisional management team which reports directly to the manager; -create a sense of responsibility; -form policies and procedures to address all aspects of energy purchase and management, its use and disposal.

Conclusions -The energy consumption has increased and will increase in the next decade with 54%; -Solutions and implementation of GREEN energy sources as so on as possible, for preserving the natural resources, decrease of pollution and efficient costs. -Fossil fuels have a significant impact on the economy, security and the environment; -It is important to educate the population and the companies for a rational use of energy consumption; -Creation and implementation of a strategic plan in regard to energy management at national/regional level; -Establish a back-plan or emergency plan for any emergency situation.

STRATEGIC ENERGY MANAGEMENT IN OMAN GREEN ENERGY IS A SOLUTION FOR SEVERAL CHALLENGES WITHIN THE WORLD. THANK YOU!
