Presentation transcript:

Bowland Maths Bowland Mathematics provides pupils and their teachers with interesting, exciting problems designed to develop the thinking, reasoning and problem solving skills required by the new Key Stage 3 curriculum in England. The five modules of the Bowland Maths professional development package cover the main pedagogical challenges in handling activities in the classroom that are involved in the type of investigative, non-routine problem solving found in the Bowland Case Studies.

Bowland Maths After a Bowland case study, the teacher asked her pupils What do you think of yourself and mathematics now that you have experienced this way of working mathematically? One pupil wrote: I used to HATE maths...Doing this project has increased my confidence a lot and I would love to do another project!! Using Bowland! I LOVE MATHS NOW. Its the best. I really wanted to be better at maths and doing this has made me really happy about it. Bowland Mathematics: 24,125 views on the NCETM forum since its launch in November 2007 The NCETM will undertake 6 twilight Bowland sessions (summer) 5 networks/ funded projects from September tag materials for bespoke Bowland next steps (autumn)
