History of a History Teacher

 The True Purpose of Education Purpose of Education Preparing the Future Generations

Question: What Do Social Studies Teachers Teach? Answer: EVERYTHING!!!  Writing Skills  Reading Skills  Communication Skills  Cognitive Development  Problem Solving Capabilities Semester Goal

 Notebook  3-Ring Preferred  MUST Have Means by Which to Store Documents  Assignments/Paperwork: I Expect Students to Save Documents for Review, Guidance, or Evidence  Pens / Pencils (None Will Be Supplied)  Any Other Tools Needed for Participation  Ex. Reading Glasses Supplies

 Tests: 40% of Final Grade  Projects: 25% of Final Grade  Homework & Quizzes: 25% of Final Grade  Participation & In-Class Work: 10% of Final Grade  Ex. Beginning or End of Class Quiz  Ex. Check Over Notes Taken  Ex. Class Discussion Grading

 Students  Take Notes (Ask for Guidance if Needed)  Review Notes (Many Different Tactics Can be Used)  Give Daily Reviews (Summarize Class in 2 Minutes)  Read Additional Materials  Ask Questions Hints for Success

 Parents  Ask for Daily Reviews  Take Active Part in Reviewing Student’s Work  Ex. Signing Off on Work Done = Extra Credit Parents in the Classroom?

 We Will Use “Remind” via Texts  No Makeup Work Done = No Credit Given  No Questions Asking for Additional Help = None Given  Ex. After All Instructions Are Given, I Assume All is Understood, UNLESS Questions Are Asked  Open Communication: If a Student Refuses the Help Offered, I will Contact You (the Student’s Parents) Honesty = Reality

I Will Offer You a Helping Hand…You Have to Reach Out and Grab It
