1. The subjunctive expresses events that may not happen, or that are hypothetical. 2. Expresses uncertainties and objectivity towards something or someone. 3. Expresses the mood of the person/subject referring to the verb. 3

Examples of the subjunctive in English: I hope it doesn’t rain tomorrow. It is important that you study. The girls want Sam to go to the party. There are a few acronyms that will help you conjugate the subjunctive: 4

1. WEDDING W – Wants, Wishes (Quiero que…) E – Emotions (Me alegra que…) D – Desires (Deseo que…) D – Doubts (Dudo que…) I – Impersonal Exp (Es importante que…) N – Negations (No quiero que…) G – god (Ojalá que…) 5
