2  The subjunctive is used to discuss potential or hypothetical events, or events that are portrayed subjectively.  The subjunctive mood contrasts with the indicative mood.  The indicative mood presents information as actual, objective facts.

3 There are two clauses in a sentence. When the main clause is a subjunctive expression, the next clause is in the subjunctive form. Yo ______ que ________. Main clause 2 nd clause

4  The subjunctive is used when a subjunctive expression is used in the main clause. You can identify these expressions by using the acronym W.E.D.D.I.N.G.

5  The subjunctive can also be used when an incomplete action is the main clause.  Incomplete actions describes something that someone was going to do or thinking about doing. 7  There are six verbs whose present tense is irregular. Dudo que usted vaya al Perú en diciembre. I doubt that you are going to Peru in December. Yo quiero que John vaya el supermercado I want John to go to the supermarket. Yo quiero que camine a escuela manana. I want to walk to school tommorrow.
