Class Guidelines Take directions from the teacher at the door before entering. Either have a seat on the floor or go directly to your computer. LISTEN FOR THE DIRECTIONS BEFORE YOU COME IN! Come in quietly when you enter the computer lab. Once you are seated, log-on to your computer but turn off the monitor. Wait for instruction. Be Patient! You will be assigned a computer today and that will be your assigned seat for the year (unless you need to me moved by the teacher).

Find your Log-In Card hanging on the side of your computer Find your Log-In Card hanging on the side of your computer. You will have your own name tag that you can slip into the clear name tag holders at the top of your monitor. Please be careful with them. They can fall off easily! You will also have your private pass-codes listed on the back of your name tag. YOU AREN’T ALLOWED TO LOOK OR USE ANYONE ELSES PASSCODES.

I Need Help When you can Get to Me! In the cup on the side of your monitor you will find 3 colored cards. Post the Blue card that says “I need help but I can continue working” when you need the teachers assistance but you think you can continue working and wait patiently for your teacher to help you.

Help! I Can’t Continue! Post the red card when you need help and you Can’t Continue working without your teachers help. Remember you can always quietly ask a neighbor first (unless we are testing). However, even with a red card it might take a few minutes for your teacher to get to you. Please be patient!

Double Checked my work and I’m Ready to Print! The Green card is to be used only when we are doing a project that involves printing. Usually I will have you post this card when you are finished with your project before you print so I can first check your work! We don’t want to waist paper and ink. Remember, you are only allowed to print once!

2 Important Things to Remember Remember there is only one of me and over 30 of you, so please BE PATIENT with the lab teacher. This is key to a successful class! When I am giving directions wait until the directions are complete. I will always ask for questions before I have you work independently. And remember, while you’re working if you still need help you can always post one of your help.

Computer Lab Rules: Listen to and follow directions. Work quietly. Be kind and show respect to your teacher and classmates. Be gentle with the mice & headphones—treat all our equipment with respect. Print with permission ONLY (only print ONCE) If you need help, post your colored cards to the monitor to help your teacher meet your needs quickly.
