 Step 1.  He has played basketball. He played basketball last night.  He has eaten breakfast. He ate breakfast in the morning.  I have been to the United States. I went to the United States last year.

 The verbs  Regular : You can + “ed” after the verbs For example : kill killed killed love loved loved use used used walk walked walked

 Some verbs are composed by consonant + vowel +consonant, you should reduplicate the suffix and + “ed.” For example : mop mopped mopped stop stopped stopped  The suffix of the verb is consonant + “y”, you should change “y” to “i” and + “ed.” For example : study studied studied

 Irregular verbs : For example : be verbs am/ is was been are were been see saw seen go went gone do did done

 The differences in meaning Sentence (a) talks about experience but without specifying when it happened. Sentence (b) talks about a specific experience at a specified past time.
