PAST SIMPLE REGURLAR and IRREGULAR VERBS

2 USE We use the past simple to talk about finished actions in the past.
Yesterday I went to the cinema. I played tennis with Maria last week. My parents bought a house three years ago.

3 FORM The form of the past simple is the same for all persons.
You like pizza = She likes pizza You liked pizza = She liked pizza + I stayed with a friend. - She didn’t do her homework. ? Where did you go? Did you like the film? Yes, I did. / No, I didn’t.

4 REGULAR and IRREGULAR For regular verbs, add +ed.
SPELLING RULES FOR REGULAR VERBS work stay worked stayed consonant > add –ed vowel + y> add -ed like liked add –d if the verb finishes in -e study studied consonant + y = the y drops and we add –ied. stop stopped consonant + vowel+ consonant = double consonant + ed

5 IRREGULAR For irregular verbs, the famous 2nd column. (page 164 of your Student’s Book) begin began begun dream dreamt dreamt feel felt felt see saw seen

6 Correct the mistakes in the sentences.
My brother plaied football yesterday. Did you saw the show last night? Where do you went on Friday? She didn’t liked vegetables. My mother buyed me a present. I studyied Translation and Interpreting. She stoped smoking last year.
