Concurrent Enrollment Courses Getting College Credit for classes taught at RCHS (or any DCSD High School)

ACC/CCA/RRCC-DCSD Agreement December DCSD and ACC/CCA/RRCC entered a partnership where they offer college credit to students for courses taught in DCSD classrooms. This will be RCHS ’ s 4 th year offering these courses.

Benefits to Student/Parent Students can earn credit toward college requirements No cost to student or parent (other than books) Student experiences college curriculum within their high school by teachers they “ know ”

Classes Offered at RCHS Grade 9 Intro to PC Applications/Logic & Program Design and MBA High School of Business Program (ACC) Grade 10 Introduction to Biotechnology (CCA) and Computer Science (ACC) Grade 11 FVT 105 Video Production & FVT 160 Post Video Production (CCA) and Fire Science (RRCC)

What credit do these classes offer? The goal is to have the classes be part of the state group of courses called Guaranteed Curriculum (GT) so that they transfer to Colorado colleges. Possible out-of-state credit (need to check with college)

How does my student sign up? During Registration (Jan/Feb)-Teacher Signature Only Needed At This Time Once Class Approved - Apply to ACC/CCA/RRCC – (Apps need – Student SSN - CDL – Parent/Student) Complete COF (College in Colorado/Naviance) Complete Statewide Agreement Take Accuplacer or Qualifying ACT Score

Concurrent Enrollment Links ACC – CCA – RRCC – GT Pathways - DCSD - enrollment

Testing and Application Help at RCHS Accuplacer Testing – mainly done at RCHS 9th – 11th graders must take the Accuplacer test. 12th graders will use ACT score.

Why take Concurrent Enrollment? Student is not taking AP courses Offered in area that student has “passion” for Adds “rigor” to their course load Creates a college transcript/college credit

Deadlines are Important This is a FANTASTIC opportunity but student must complete the entire process, OR: 1) They will not get college credit 2) There may be a cost to you for not filling out the COF (College Opportunity Fund)

If you have further questions, please contact the RCHS Counseling Office. If you do not attend RCHS and would like to visit one of our programs, please contact the instructor to set up that visit.
