Long-Term Assignments Month-to-Month Me Each month students will have a packet of 4 pages that they will need to color and complete. They will have about 2 weeks to complete it each month. Book Reports Students will complete book reports. Directions will be given in plenty of time for them to read the book and demonstrate their understanding. This will start in September. Content Area Projects Various Social Studies/Science projects throughout the year. Often time done in class, but may require some support from home.

Homework Policy Assignments are expected to be completed and turned in on time. If assignments are late, but turned in later that day or the next day, students will receive 20% off, if it is turned in on the second day students will receive 50% off on the score earned. After the third day, they will receive a zero, but should still complete the assignment. Infinite Campus will be notated with “*M” for missing assignments.

Parents and Homework… Please let your child be responsible for his/her homework, as they grow and develop more independence. Growth in education is like a three-legged stool and each of us has a part: Student, Parent, Teacher Be an active part, but let them do their part!

Communication Please check Friday Folders weekly. There will not be a signature page, but you should expect them each week. Please go over the work with your child and return them on Monday. Classroom newsletters will be sent home via each month. They can also be viewed on our classroom website. I will use and our classroom website to communicate classroom needs or information. I may also use this to keep in touch about your child, when needed. This is the quickest and most efficient way to communicate. Feel free to me as well. I will get back with you as soon as I can. Please make sure your address stays updated.

How to Find Information 1. Go to (ACS Homepage) 2.Click on Parent 3. Scroll and click on Teacher pages 4. Type in Hutchinson in the search bar, enter Some things you will find on Mrs. Hutchinson’s website 4 th grade newsletter – monthly update Homework and Events Calendar (updated regularly, but also check child’s planner) Resources-documents, links to websites, guidelines, etc. Wish List – Items that would be helpful for the classroom

SNACKS and TREATS Appropriate morning snacks are fruit, veggies, yogurt, cheese, crackers, bread, health bars, healthy cereals. Students should not bring the following for morning snacks: chips, cookies, sugary treats, popcorn (too messy), Ramen Noodles. Birthday treats are always welcome! It is a district policy that they should be store bought so ingredients are listed and accessible. We do have life-threatening nut/peanut allergies, so no snacks with obvious nut/peanuts. THANK YOU for supporting our healthy snacks policy!

You will see the ABC’s of 4 th Grade, a questionnaire to help me get to know your child, a “Welcome to 4 th Grade” questionnaire, some homework tips, and a reminder about reading testing day. Please fill out the questionnaires (blue sheet and purple sheet) and return them with your child or in their Friday Folder by Monday, August 18th.
