Lunch and Snacks District 08 Policy is to encourage healthy eating of our students. Please try to keep this in mind when selecting snacks for your child. Remember we are a peanut free school. Children need to keep hydrated to keep them alert. Please be sure your child has a drink for snack and lunch. Milk is available to purchase at lunch time for 50 cents. Children may also bring a bottle of water for a drink throughout the day as they will only have the use of the fountain during break times.

Lunch and Snacks con’t If your child does not eat some or all of their lunch I do not let them throw it out. Any unfinished lunches will be sent home in their lunch box. Please check these when they get home and speak to your child about it if necessary. Please do not send food that needs to be heated and if a spoon is necessary don’t forget to put one in. Please watch for information on the start up of the Hot Lunch Program.

Classroom Procedures Class begins promptly at 8:30. Late arrivals will be marked tardy and will have missed important instructions to start the day. Please do your best to see that your child arrives to school on time. Birthdays – Please do not send party invitations to school for your child to hand out unless all the boys or all the girls (depending on the gender of the birthday child) in the class are being invited or if the entire class is invited. If your party is only for a select group, I would ask that you make personal contact with those people through other means. This will avoid any hurt feelings of children in the class who are not invited. If you wish to send in a treat for your child to share with the class on their birthday please feel free to do so. Whenever your child is absent, whether it be for a half day or full day, a written excuse is required when they return to school. If you know they will be out for an extended period of time please call the school and let the secretary know. This way I can send work home to help your child stay in tune with what is happening in class.

Classroom Procedures con’t If you are going to be picking up your child before the 1:50 dismissal time please send a note to let me know or call the school. I will then be able to have your child’s work ready for the specified time. Whenever you are picking up your child at school please stop at the office and the secretary will let me know. You can then meet your child in the front lobby.

Classroom Rules We have discussed with the children what kind of behaviour is expected of them in school. The most important thing they need to ask themselves is “Am I doing the right thing?” The following is our Grade two motto that will help them remember to always be doing the right thing. –Hands Off ! –Feet Off ! –Words Off !

Homework Homework should be a review of what has been covered in class. Reading every night is very important for success. Please remember to fill in the Reading Log found in the Homework Folder. Please check the Home/School Communication pocket nightly for any notices and sign the homework sheet when everything is complete. If your child is having difficulty with any part of the homework, please let the teacher know by writing a note.

Questions?

In Closing: Thank you so much for coming. If you ever have a concern about your child’s progress, please do not hesitate to contact us. Open communication between home and school is very important for a successful year.
