Make Awesome Things Happen Help Days Every Thursday from 8:15-9:00 YOU must have your agenda signed by me the day before. YOU need to sign up with Ms Cooper, if you plan on coming in early. YOU must have a specific goal in mind.

 Arrive to class on time.  Have all materials out on my desk.  Follow directions.  Raise hand when I need permission or have a question.  Respect everyone around me. My Responsibilities

8 th Math It IS All About YOU!  Give math class your 100% best effort.  Write assignments in your agenda daily and complete all assignments FULLY and on time.  Study a few minutes each day, even if there is no written homework.  Most Important -- Always ask me if you have any questions or need clarification. I cannot help if I don’t know where my help is needed.

8 th Math How Will We Learn Math? Daily Warm-Up/Homework Check  Take out homework (already graded at home)  Begin preparing questions from the previous night’s homework  Begin completing your warm up (in interactive ntbk (TOP LEFT) Come to class. Sign in. Pick up your supplies.

Daily Work  A Variety of Assignments, Projects, Labs and Activities  I will keep these assignments in my interactive notebook. Daily Homework  I will check (online or back book), grade (in red ink), and correct (in red ink) homework at home.  I MUST attempt all problems.  As a class we will be review homework daily. √ = I need to wait until class tomorrow because I have worked it out twice and need me peer’s and/or teacher’s help in finding a solution = I got the incorrect answer and will need to go back and correct it on another sheet of paper before class. = I understand this problem, the process, work, and answer are all accurate.

Make Awesome Things Happen Homework Assigned every night. Sometimes the assignment will be started in class. Must be completed in pencil. Must “attempt” all of the problems. Must check answers in the back of the book. Textbook is available online. Reviewed at the beginning of each class Taken up for a grade at least once a week.

8 th Math Re-Work and Late-Work Policies

8 th Math How Will We Learn Math? Assessments  You will show what you have learned on quizzes, tests and a quarterly Interim Assessment or Final Exam. I will have had ample opportunities to correct, rework, come in for extra help, and learn from my mistakes BEFORE taking an assessment.

Ms. Cooper is ALWAYS looking for students who are…  Working cooperatively  Solving a complex math problem  Coming into class  Being prepared with your homework out on your desk  Starting the warm-up problem  Actively participating in early morning help sessions  Completing the Problem of the Day  Doing bonus math problems and math related puzzles when you finish your assignments (must be done in class)  Volunteering to read or do a math problem in front of the class  Volunteering to help me out in the classroom  Volunteering to help others in the classroom  and many, more…..

1.) Place six X's on a Tic Tac Toe board without making three-in-a-row in any direction? 2.) Variable Logic: Find the value of each variable (A, B, C, D, and E). You can use the table to organize your logic. (Hint A = 5) If: B+A=6 E+B=C E+C+B= AX B C D E
