Unit 1 – Day 1 Honors Introduction to Course Project 1

2 Please read the syllabus you have received. It is your job to familiarize yourself with the policies and expectations of this class

Welcome to M2 Honors My website: All course information will be posted there. Check the site often! For an extra 5 points on your first homework grade take the survey about my website before FRIDAY at 3:30pm. Read through my website before taking the survey – there are questions about my site that must be correct to receive credit! The link to the survey is under today’s homework assignment. Beginning course details and/or books/materials needed for a class/project.

4 Units to be covered in Math 2:
- Transformations Quadratic Functions Exponential Functions Advanced Functions Trigonometric Functions Probability Difference between Honors and Standard: Honors has harder tests and additional out-of- school projects to be completed. Grading is different.

5 Classroom Expectations:
RESPECT yourself, others, and your school at all times Take responsibility for your learning and your actions Be physically and mentally prepared for class (have supplies, be on time, be attentive and cooperative) Consume food and beverages in the cafeteria only Comply with all KHS and Wake County policies ** We will be following the school policy of 3 strikes your out. **Electronic devices will be conficated at all times. I will follow the “Bag it and Tag It” policy.

6 Supplies 3-Ring Binder with Notebook paper Dividers Pencils
Recommended: TI-83 or TI-84 graphing calculator If you cannot purchase one, there is a way to download a graphing calculator to your desktop computer. Go to my website for directions. We only have a few calculators from the school, if you do not purchase your own you will be required to share with your neighbor!!

7 Grading Quarter Grades: Tests and Projects: 60% Quizzes: 20%
Class work: 10% Homework: 10% Semester Grades: 1st Quarter: 40% 2nd Quarter: 40% Final Exam: 20% State Test – “NC Final Exam” Tests: at the end of each unit Projects: 4 this semester, 2 each quarter Quizzes: most units will have 1 quiz Class Work: 2-5 times per week Homework: NIGHTLY

8 Tests and Projects (60%) Each unit will have a test
6 tests for the semester There will be 3 (possibly 4) projects. 2 projects in the first quarter 1 (possibly 2) project in the second quarter

9 Quizzes (20%) Each unit will have approximately 2-4 quizzes.
Quizzes CANNOT be retaken. Quiz grades will be replaced with the unit test grade if the test is higher, otherwise the quiz grade will stay. If you are absent on quiz day, the quiz will be taken on the day you return – no exceptions!

10 Class work (10%) Class work can be graded for accuracy or for completion. Any class work graded for accuracy can be recompleted if you are not satisfied with original grade for up to an 85%.

11 Everyone starts out at a 100
Homework (10%) Homework will be graded based off of a full credit, half credit, or no credit system. Everyone starts out at a 100 Full credit receives a √ (keep your 100) Half credit receives a √- (-5 points for each assignment at half credit) No credit receives X (-10 points for each assignment not done)

12 You are out = YOUR RESPONSIBLILITY to get make-up work.

14 Warm- Up Formatting Take out a 1sheet of paper and fold into four parts. You will use one section of your paper for each day of the week. Friday will be completed on the back of your warm-up sheet for the week! (unless a short week).

15 Warm-Up Answer the following questions using complete sentences (please number your answers). What are three interesting facts about yourself? What are your previous mathematical experiences? What do you expect out of me (Ms. Wilson) as your math teacher?
