Introduction to Digital Filmmaking Mr. Phillips Design Lab – Rm. 38

Course Overview This one semester digital video and film class will give students the opportunity to express ideas and entertain through the creation and production of movies. Students will study aspects of film and get introduced to the moviemaking process: from storyboarding, scriptwriting and pre-production planning to acting, directing, and producing. Students will create: two digital shorts, a music video and a silent film.

The Team Commitment This is a team based course. All student videos will be created as a production team. Organization, responsibility, flexibility and cooperation are all essential skills students must possess. Students will be responsible for taking a lead role in at least one of their productions Students must also be able to take instruction and constructive criticism from their peers.

Tardy Policy A student is tardy if he/she is not in their assigned seat and ready to work. 1 st – verbal warning 1 st – verbal warning 2 nd – verbal warning & parent contact 2 nd – verbal warning & parent contact 3 rd – 2 hour detention & parent contact 3 rd – 2 hour detention & parent contact 4 th – 2 hour detention & ½ day in-school suspension 4 th – 2 hour detention & ½ day in-school suspension 5 th – full day in-school suspension 5 th – full day in-school suspension 6 th – out-of-school suspension & parent meeting 6 th – out-of-school suspension & parent meeting

Procedures & Routines All classroom procedures and routines will be followed each day to allow for a safe and effective learning environment.

Grading Projects will be graded based on a project specific rubric. Points will also be earned for the video cover, work ethic and student participation in the production team.
