Procedures in the Art Room

Entering and Exiting the classroom Please enter the classroom quietly and quickly go to your assigned seat. After you have cleaned up at the end of art class, I will dismiss people from each table. You must line up quietly and have hallway manners as you exit my room.

During Class Behavior If the phone rings or another adult is talking to me, you will give me

Request for Use hand signals: For Restroom----- Raise your hand with middle and index fingers intertwined.

Request for For Water Tap three fingers on your chin. After permission has been granted verbally or by a nod of the teacher’s head, place the restroom pass on your table. After you have returned to the classroom from your requested destination, place the pass back on the hook in the designated place.

Request for Help Raise your hand to request for help. If the teacher is busy helping someone else already, then place a cone in front of you. The teacher will come to you as soon as possible. Please be patient. You may talk quietly or draw on your portfolio while you wait.

Trash, Facial Tissue, etc. Throw trash that is smaller than your hand in the trash bucket at your table. Any trash bigger than your hand should only be thrown away as you exit the art room. If you need to use a facial tissue or hand sanitizer for any reason, you don’t need to ask for permission to get out of your seat. You may use the facial tissue and throw it away in the big trash can. Please use hand sanitizer after you have used a facial tissue.

Emergency If you don’t feel good and think that you will vomit, please request to have the trash can by your table as soon as you are aware of how you feel. If you suddenly have to vomit, please get up quickly and run to the trash can. Place your head above it while you vomit.
