Guidelines/Grading Rubric Provided by Ms. Wigfall THE PRODUCT MECHANICS This product should be done on POWERPOINT. However, you can use excel or any other program to insert information into your powerpoint. The paper should be PORTRAIT for Page Setup. This product should have the following: - cover page - table of contents with specific pertinent items - reflection - a copy of the guidelines - grading rubrics Upon completion, you need 3 paper copies 1 copy to Ms. Wigfall The address for the product will be given to you only after Ms. Wigfall previews the final copy and receives the paper copies. WHEN PRINTING THESE GUIDELINES, PRINT AS SLIDES 4 PER PAGE. (this printout) 1 for me 1 for you to review 1 for your portfolio

Guidelines/Grading Rubric Provided by Ms. Wigfall Cover Page General Information for all products Cover page must include the following: Your Name: Title of Product: Term: School Year: Class: Teacher: Ms. Wigfall You can put a graphic on the cover, if you choose.

Guidelines/Grading Rubric Provided by Ms. Wigfall Equation Analysis Product ASSIGNMENT Analyze 5 different equations: Each one should be INCREASINGLY MORE COMPLICATED than the previous. ( See my sample equations and sample done.) Level of difficulty of the equations should be based on your accomplishments in solving equations. Quadratic equations, equations of circle and any others done in class by you are acceptable. For each equation include the following: Given Problem: Real Life Situation: Mathematical Solution: Real Life Illustration:

Guidelines/Grading Rubric Provided by Ms. Wigfall Given Problem: 5m = 75 Real Life Situation: Mary’s family house is 5 times as old as Mary. Her house I s 75. How old is Mary? Mathematical Solution: 5m = 75 m = 15 ANSWER: Mary is 15 years old. Real Life Illustration:

Guidelines/Grading Rubric Provided by Ms. Wigfall Given Problem: 8J + 12J = 60 Real Life Situation: Andy is 8 times as old as John. Sam is 12 times as old as John. Together, Andy and Sam’s ages total 60 years. How old is each? Mathematical Solution: LetAndy = 8J Let Sam = 12J Let John = J solving: 8J + 12J = 60 20J = 60 J = 3 Andy = 8J = 8(3) = 24 Sam = 12J = 12(3) = 36 John = J = 3

Guidelines/Grading Rubric Provided by Ms. Wigfall Given Problem: 10K - 5 = 15K - 85 Real Life Situation: Jill, Barbara and Karyn are triplets. They are going to buy valentines candy for each other. Jill has $5 less than ten times as much as Kary. Barbara has $85 less than fifteen times as much as Karyn. However, Jill and Barbara have the same amount of money as each other. How much money does each of the three girls have? Mathematical Solution: Let Jill = 10K – 5 Let Barbara = 15K – 85 Let Karyn = K solving: 10K - 5 = 15K – = 5K 16 = K Answer: Jill = 10k – 5 = 10(16) – 5 = = $155 Barbara = 15K – 85 = 15(16) – 85 = =$155 Karyn = K = $16

Guidelines/Grading Rubric Provided by Ms. Wigfall Given Problem: 5(3M – 10) = 100 Real Life Situation: Shaniqua, Marcel and Ezekiel found out how much money they owe for graduation. Shaniqua owes $10 less than 3 times as much money as Marcel. Ezekiel owes 5 times as much money as Shaniqua. Ezekiel owes $100. How much money does each of the three owe? Mathematical Solution: 5(3m-10) = m – 50 = m = 150 m = 10 Let Shaniqua = 3M – 10= 3(10)-10 = 20 Let Ezekiel = 100 Let Marcel = m = 10 Shaniqua owes $20 Ezekiel owes $100 Marcel owes $10
