Titusville to Edgewater Bike Loop PD&E Study FDOT Project Number: 424040-3-22-01 Volusia County, Florida FDOT Project Number: 424040-2-22-01 Brevard County, Florida

424040-2 and 424040-3 Titusville to Edgewater Trail Outline Study Limits Purpose and Need Recommended Alternative Funding Other Alternatives Considered Adjacent Projects Next Steps Questions & Comments

424040-2 and 424040-3 Titusville to Edgewater Trail Study Limits 424040-3 Sand Point Park (Titusville) to Rotary Park (Edgewater) 33 miles Two project numbers: 424040-2 (Brevard) 424040-3 (Volusia) 424040-2 Trail system connectivity to East Central Regional Rail Trail (click)

424040-2 and 424040-3 Titusville to Edgewater Trail Purpose and Need Potential national destination for both recreational and experienced trail users. Provide users access to existing scenic natural areas. Provide a loop connection with the East Central Regional Rail Trail (ECRRT) in Titusville and Edgewater. Trail system connectivity to East Central Regional Rail Trail (click)

Recommended Alternative – US 1 424040-2 and 424040-3 Titusville to Edgewater Trail Recommended Alternative – US 1 Kennedy Pkwy to 200’ south of Halifax Ave Construct 10’/12’ wide shared-use path on east side of US 1 2.2 miles Replace any existing sidewalk

Recommended Alternative – US 1 424040-2 and 424040-3 Titusville to Edgewater Trail Recommended Alternative – US 1 200’ south of Halifax Ave (Dollar General Driveway) to 700’ north of Halifax Ave Resurface existing paved shoulder 0.2 miles Fraser to match our construction cost estimate: Changed 660’ north to 700’ Changed Retain to Resurface existing paved shoulder

Recommended Alternative – US 1 424040-2 and 424040-3 Titusville to Edgewater Trail Recommended Alternative – US 1 700’ north of Halifax Ave to Indian River Blvd (SR 442) Construct 10’/12’ wide shared use path on east side of US 1 8 miles Replace existing sidewalk with path Bridge over 2 canals Fraser to match our construction cost estimate: Changed 660’ north to 700’ North of Golden Bay Blvd. South of Indian Creek Rd.

Recommended Alternative – US 1 424040-2 and 424040-3 Titusville to Edgewater Trail Recommended Alternative – US 1 Indian River Blvd (SR 442) to Orange Avenue Resurface existing 4’ paved shoulder 0.6 miles Inconsistent right-of-way width Impacts to existing drainage, driveways and utilities will require significant reconstruction Traffic signal at SR 442 allows bicyclists using shoulders on west side to cross to path on east side of US 1 at a traffic signal Planned City of Edgewater sidewalk project will fill some sidewalk gaps Fraser to match our construction cost estimate: Changed Retain to Resurface existing paved shoulder Revised “Traffic signal at SR 442 allows bicyclists using shoulders on west side to cross to path on east side of US 1 at a traffic signal”

Recommended Alternative – US 1 424040-2 and 424040-3 Titusville to Edgewater Trail Recommended Alternative – US 1 Orange Avenue to Park Avenue Retain existing 4’ bike lanes Curb and gutter section Tight right-of-way 0.9 miles Fraser: Changed paved shoulder to bike lanes South of New Hampshire Street

Recommended Alternative – Park Ave 424040-2 and 424040-3 Titusville to Edgewater Trail Recommended Alternative – Park Ave US 1 to FEC Railroad Crossing Restripe and remove center two-way, left-turn lane to provide a 4’ bike lanes; or keep center lane and provide signing and pavement marking for “sharrows” 0.2 miles No existing shoulders, tight right-of-way Fraser: Changed directional to two-way, left-turn lane, and ; or keep center lane and provide signing and pavement marking for “sharrows”

Recommended Alternative – Park Ave 424040-2 and 424040-3 Titusville to Edgewater Trail Recommended Alternative – Park Ave FEC Crossing to Dale Street Widen to provide 4’ paved shoulders on both sides 0.8 miles No existing paved shoulder, tight right-of-way Fraser: changed Dale Avenue to Street

Recommended Alternative 424040-2 and 424040-3 Titusville to Edgewater Trail Recommended Alternative A trailhead in the Bill’s Hill area of south Volusia County would serve trail users coming from MINWR or cycling along US 1 from Edgewater / Oak Hill or from Titusville. Figure 1 shows three parcels on the east side of US 1 at the intersection with Kennedy Parkway were a trailhead could be located. Volusia County has designated the future land use as “Rural” on the front (US 1 portion) of the northern two (owned by James House and Hinrough LLC), and the back portion as “Environmental System Corridor”. The 35 acre, owned by the US Bureau of Land Management (MINWR), has a future land use designation of “Conservation”. The outcome of the EIS for the SpaceFlorida Shiloh Launch Site may affect the availability of this site.

424040-2 and 424040-3 Titusville to Edgewater Trail Funding Estimate to design and construct recommended alternative $6.8 Million Design Phase Unfunded Right-of-Way Acquisition Phase Not needed, path is within FDOT right-of-way Construction Phase Fraser: Added design & construction cost estimate for 12.7 miles in Volusia county

Other Alternatives Considered 424040-2 and 424040-3 Titusville to Edgewater Trail Other Alternatives Considered Resurface existing paved shoulders on US 1 Off-US 1 route preferred by the City of Edgewater US 1 to Roberts Road to Hibiscus Drive to Mango Tree Drive to Park Avenue Impacts a significant number of residential parcels and crosses canal Can be prioritized and funded as a regional trail project
