2 March 8, 2005 Pedestrian Crossings  Street lighting levels vary.  Pedestrian feel exposed.  Short walk signal – 3 rd Avenue NE & Northgate Way (8 sec to cross Northgate).  Long wait time – 1 st Avenue NE & Northgate Way (70 sec wait to cross Northgate).  Some mid-block pedestrian refuges are needed at key locations. Roosevelt Way NE north of NE Northgate Way

3 March 8, 2005 Within Urban Center  Adequate lighting overall.  Sidewalks are continuous but width may not be adequate at some locations.  Roosevelt Way:  Sidewalks need repair  Street trees compete with pedestrian space  Northgate Way:  Many mid-block driveways  Access management NE Northgate Way near 5 th Avenue NE

4 March 8, 2005 Neighborhoods to Urban Center  Over 75% of arterials have sidewalks on both sides (benchmarks call for 90%).  Some sidewalk widths are not adequate.  Large trees obscure lighting but adequate overall. Roosevelt Way NE near NE 103 rd Street

5 March 8, 2005 Within Residential Neighborhoods  North of NE 92 nd sidewalks are lacking.  Vehicles and pedestrians compete for shoulder/ parking lane.  Several missing gaps along arterials.  15 th Ave NE  Meridian Ave N  1 st Ave N/NE  Corliss Ave N  Densmore Ave N 1 st Avenue N near Northgate Elementary
