Assignment Instructions: 1.Click on the “Content” link of PAWS and scroll down to Chapter 4 2.Watch all of the YouTube videos (they are short) (also listed below for your convenience) − YouTube: Probability and Statistics - − YouTube Probability - − YouTube: Tree diagrams - − YouTube: An Experiment with Probability - − YouTube: Introduction to Probability: − YouTube: Bayes' Theorem: 3.You will write THREE (3) well-constructed paragraphs. Each paragraph will be on one of the following: − Paragraph 1: Identify the video that you feel was most educational. As it relates to Business Statistics, explain two things that you learned and how it will help you with this course. − Paragraph 2: Identify the video that was just the absolute worst. Explain why you thought the content was bad. − Paragraph 3: Identify the video that was mediocre. In other words, it wasn’t the best and it wasn’t the worst. As it relates to Business Statistics, explain one thing that you learned and how it will help you with this course. 4.Name the document SP_2_YourName where you replace the words YourName with your actual name (first and last name please, no spaces). 5.When you are done, check for spelling and grammar errors. 6.When you are confident that you are done, upload the Word document. 7. As a reminder: This is professional work and so naturally this paper will include your name and a title. 8.Additionally, please include your class section at the top of the page. Learning Project 2: Instructions Revised Part 1 - Watch: Print these instructions. Use the instructions as a check list when completing this assignment. For this assignment, you will read the content page and watch all seven (7) YouTube videos posted. The content page and videos can be found by following these steps: A.Log into PAWS and entering our class section B.Click the CONTENT link C.Scroll down to Chapter 4 D.Click YouTube Videos on Probability, Tree Diagrams, Combinations, Permutations, Bayes, Theorem, and Conditional Probability Actions for topic - YouTube Videos on Probability, Tree Diagrams, Combinations, Permutations, Bayes, Theorem, and Conditional ProbabilityYouTube Videos on Probability, Tree Diagrams, Combinations, Permutations, Bayes, Theorem, and Conditional Probability Actions for topic - YouTube Videos on Probability, Tree Diagrams, Combinations, Permutations, Bayes, Theorem, and Conditional Probability E.Click YES - IMPORTANT: YOU MUST CLICK YES, when you are prompted with the question: “This page contains both secure and nonsecure items. Do you want to display the nonsecure items?” Again, you *MUST* answer YES. Part 2 - Write: You will write THREE (3) well-constructed paragraphs (well constructed means an introductory sentence, 3 sentences of meaningful content, and a summary sentence). The paragraphs will be on the following topics: A.Paragraph 1: Identify the video that you feel was most educational. As it relates to Business Statistics, explain two things that you learned and how it will help you with Chapter 4. Please do not write a movie critique of the video. Tell me what you learned as it relates to Chapter 4. B.Paragraph 2: Identify the video that was mediocre. In other words, it wasn’t the best and it wasn’t the worst. As it relates to Business Statistics, explain one thing that you learned and how it will help you with Chapter 4. Please do not write a movie critique of the video. Tell me what you learned as it relates to Chapter 4. C.Paragraph 3: Identify the video that was the absolute worst. Explain why you thought the content was bad. Please note - this is the ONLY paragraph where you are allowed to critique the video. For example, if the video quality, clarity, speed, etc... made it "the worst" then you may give this as a reason. D.Part 3: Submit: IMPORTANT: To receive credit, follow these instructions exactly. Name the Word document that you create LP2_FirstLast.doc where you replace the words First with your first name and Last with your last name (no spaces). When you are done, check for spelling and grammar errors. Points will be deducted for spelling and grammar errors. When you are confident that you are done, upload the Word document into PAWS in the appropriate PAWS Dropbox. As a reminder: This is professional work and so naturally this paper will include your name and a title. A Web page with videos embedded

Agenda Using “Found” videos −By companies −By academic institutions −By teachers −Fun & educational Finding Videos Example Assignments & Lessons Learned Distributing the link Student Feedback

Distributing the link (Lessons Learned) Methods: You can use PAWS, , or a handout. Verify the video: When giving students a link to the video, you should also include the EXACT title of the video. Ask the student to verify the video title. Link: The link you give to students is located to the right of the video box. Avoid copying the link from your browser’s Web address because this is not always reliable. For example, never distribute this link: because it uses the word “related” that indicates it is based on searches you have done and may not be reliable. −Before distributing the link, add the letters: &NR=1 to the end of the hyperlink. This ensures that the video you expect to play will play. Example of link reported by YouTube: You would report the link as follows:

Student Feedback

I feel that not all students learn the same way. I learn better from simplified instructions. I watched the video titled Normal Model Example 1. The concept that I learned was the area under a curve for any normal distribution. This concept is also found in chapter 6 of my business statistics book on page 233 and 234. This video was helpful for me in solving homework problem number 8 in chapter 6. Both of the givens were the same on the video and the homework problem. I feel that the video explained the topic better than the book on this concept. The video gave more examples on how to correctly gather and interpret the information from the given diagram. The video also helped the words from the book come to life in my thinking box. The second video that I watched was the one titled Statistics: Z- score. The concept that I learned in this video was computing probabilities for any normal probability distribution. This concept is found in chapter 6 of my business statistics book on page 238. This video was helpful for me in solving homework problem number 13. I feel that the book explained this concept better than the video. The book gives more detailed information than the video did. The video was too short and did not spend enough time on the concept for me to get a clear understanding. Everyone learns at a different pace and from different methods. My statistics teacher told the class that we can use her slides, the book, a tutor, or resources in the library to help use learn statistics. If you truly want to learn, you must first put forth the effort. I feel that true learning starts with the desire to want to learn. Night student, adult male Good Bad

Student Feedback Reading the book, I have had problems understanding the purpose of the Chapter, however, watching the video afterwards I now have a very clear understanding of the subject matter. The video does not focus on z-scores but shows another way to approach these type of problems by using the calculator, which I personally found to be much easier then using the z-scores. In the YouTube video Statistics: Z-score, I learned the concept of computing probabilities for normal probability distributions. This concept is also discussed in our text book in chapter 6, section 2, page 238. This concept can be applied to solve method #10 on page 241. Once again I found that the YouTube video was a much easier resource to learn from than the text book. With the YouTube video the step by step process used to solve a given problem felt clearer and concise compared to the text book which offers excess information with unfamiliar vocabulary that leaves me confused. Student #1 – Night student, female Student #2 – Day student, female

Student Feedback The video I chose was Video #1 Normal Model Example part 1. I learned how to draw standard deviations on either sides of the mean. The page number that would connect the video to the book is page 233. The video would help with problem number 10 on page 241. I feel that the video best explained the topic. I say this because I am a visual learner I need to see things worked out instead of reading. The video I watched was the Normal Model Example part 1. In this video I learned how to more efficiently work with a normal curve graph by learning how to plot the mean, the standard deviations, and working problems that are in relation to the graph. This video taught me the contents of pages of my Business Statistics book. I can apply the knowledge learned from this video on the problem 10(Pg 241 Methods), because it involves drawing a graph, and using the standard deviations to solve the problem. In my opinion, I learned more from the video because the lady took her time, and went step by step to demonstrate the process on how to graph and plot a Normal Probability Distribution. Student #3 – Night student, female Student #4 – Day student, male
